Week 3. Oh, week 3. You did me in, for sure! I caved! QVC had an awesome sale on Aerogardens! They were offered at a “One Day Only” price of $79.96, which was $20 cheaper than the first one that I purchased back in December! So, I did what any normal person would do! I bought TWO! LOL! I will be using these Aerogardens to grow lettuce, for salads, and peppers, for the husband’s weekly jambalaya. Since I’m using these purchases to grow FOOD, this should count as “necessary” groceries, right?! Yeah, I keep telling myself that, but I’m not so sure that I’m right. 😉
So, here’s a recap of Week 3 of the No-Spend January Challenge:
NO-SPEND JANUARY CHALLENGE – WEEK 3 RECAP – January 15th through 21st
How much did you spend?
Technically, I spent a total of $118.89 because the two Aerogardens were purchased on Easy Pay, which means I’ll be charged even monthly payments over 5 months :). So, $36.73 was the first payment of the Aerogardens, and I purchased $82.16 of products from Aerogarden because they had a sale!!! Buy one, get one 50% off seed pod kits, or 20% off everything site-wide! I, naturally, chose the 20% off site-wide, because it gave me the biggest discount! 🙂
Oh, and did I mention that Ebates was offering 5% cash back on QVC purchases, instead of the normal 1%??? That’s right! I made $8 back on my purchase of those Aerogardens! Cha-ching! LOL! If you’re interested in joining Ebates, check them out HERE! It’s FREE to join!
I would tell you what the exact grand total is, for my Aerogarden purchase off of QVC.com, but their website is down right now, LOL. The two Aerogardens were roughly $190.91 with tax and shipping included. I also found out that the Husband bought two football cards because “He couldn’t pass up such good deals”, so those totaled $14. He didn’t do too bad, lol. BUT, my purchase will produce FOOD! It’s the gift that keeps on giving, for at least 6 months! That’s a good purchase, right?! 🙁
Grand Total Spent Week 3 (w/o Easy Pay): $287.07
Grand Total Spent Week 3 (with Easy Pay!): $132.89 (Actual money spent during Week 3.)
Actual Money Spent during the month of January: $135.75
Do you have any tips for staying on-track with the challenge?
I don’t have any new tips, again this week, and I don’t regret nosing around on the internet, because I would’ve, totally, missed that awesome price for the Aerogardens! They’re back up to $110 now!
Did you meet your Week 3 Goals?
Write out a meal plan! – I did not write out a meal plan :(. I don’t know what the deal is with me. I always try to keep everything in my head! It’s almost like it’s a challenge for me! LOL.
We cooked, pretty much, the same meals as we did in Week 2:
Meatloaf with Gravy and Macaroni & Cheese
Grilled Chicken Salad
I cooked more than enough for multiple meals, of each recipe, throughout the week. For example, that Meatloaf was made with 3 pounds of ground meat!
Hmmm…. I think this is all I cooked this week. I remember cooking that broccoli & cheese rice, but I’m not sure if it was Week 2 or Week 3. See… this is why I shouldn’t try to keep everything in my head!
USE MY PLANNER! Round 2! – I’m sure you can guess how this went! I was even going to try to “fake” it and write everything in my planner, last night, but I totally failed at doing that too!
USE MY PLANNER! – I totally failed at using my planner! I just don’t know why I just cannot remember to use one. Maybe because I’m always in a hurry, no matter what it is that I’m doing, and I feel like stopping, to write things down, wastes time. I know it would make me more organized, so if anyone has any tips and tricks to get me to use my planner, I am all ears! 🙂
Continue the 30-day Ningxia Challenge and Slique-in-60 Challenges! – I’ve been extremely good at following these challenges! I still need to work on my food choices, but… baby steps, right? I followed the Ningxia Red Challenge every single day, but I did not take my Slique supplements on the weekend because I forgot to take them. If you would like information about these challenges, feel free to email me at email@example.com!
Return items to HSN and QVC that I did not need, but purchased, during the holidays! – Round 2 of “Operating Return Stuff You Don’t Need” happened last week! The plan is to return the remainder of the unneeded items this week! The hubby will be making the trip to the post office and Fedex/UPS on one of his off days. We finally see the light at the end of the tunnel (in our living room, lol)!
GOALS FOR WEEK 4
- WRITE OUT A MEAL PLAN FOR GOD’S SAKE! ROUND 2!
- USE MY PLANNER! Round 3! Third time’s the charm, right?! 🙂
- Continue the 30-day Ningxia Challenge and Slique-in-60 Challenges! If you would like information about these challenge, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
- Return the remainder of the unneeded items to HSN and QVC!
Oh! Before I forget, here are the items, that I plan to purchase in February, to help me improve my Meal Planning and Organization Skills!
In February, I plan to buy the following items. They are magnetic planners, along with magnetic dry erase markers! They should fit, perfectly, on the doors of my refrigerator, so that they will be staring me, in the face, multiple times during the day! 🙂
That’s all for Week 3 of the No-Spend January Challenge! I fell off the wagon, this week, but it was purchases that will produce herbs and vegetables! Groceries! 😉
